$110 million has been earned by publishers using Ghost. Every cent went straight to them.
What content business are you ready to launch? It's easier than you think. Your future self will thank you.
Over 9,000 people launched a publication with Ghost last week. That’s not a typo.
People want to publish on their own space. We work hard every day to make that possible for everyone.
35 people build Ghost. No investors, no board, no plans to become a corporation. Ever.
A small team that answers to you, not shareholders. That's the kind of company we want to be.
Independent software for independent people
No investors. No shareholders.
No bullshit.
Ghost is built by a nonprofit foundation, funded entirely by the people who use it. No growth targets. No exit strategy. Just a product that exists to be good at what it does.
Can't be bought.
Can't be sold.
A nonprofit foundation has no owners and no equity. Ghost's structure makes a rug-pull impossible.
Open source.
All of it.
The code is public. You can read it, run it yourself, or modify it. Download Ghost for free and host it anywhere.
Started in 2013.
Still here.
Twelve years of building, funded by customers. No pivots, no acquisitions, no surprises.
Ghost is open source. The whole thing. If you care about independent publishing, come build with us.
View on GitHubWhy rent space on someone else's platform when you could own where you build your brand?
Your site, your audience, your revenue. No algorithms deciding who sees your work. No platform taking a cut.
Ditch the duct tape and the fees. Build your own media home with one simple tool.
Publishing, email, memberships, and revenue — all in one place. No plugin stack. No fragile integrations. Just the work.
Plug-and-play blog with newsletter. Made simple, made to match your brand.
Fast, reliable, developer-friendly. Set it up once, stop thinking about it, get back to the work that matters.

Questions answered.
Is there a free trial? +
Yes. Every Ghost(Pro) plan starts with a free 14-day trial. No credit card required. If it's not for you, it simply expires — no awkward cancellation process.
Are there really no transaction fees? +
Really. Ghost charges 0% on every transaction. Your site connects directly to your own Stripe account. The only fees are Stripe's standard processing (2.9% + 30¢). Everything else is yours.
Can I migrate from Substack, WordPress, or Medium? +
Yes. Ghost has built-in importers for Substack, WordPress, Squarespace, Medium, and Mailchimp. Annual Ghost(Pro) plans include a free migration service — a real person handles the move for you.
What happens if Ghost shuts down? +
Ghost is open source under the MIT license. The code is public and always will be. If Ghost the company disappeared tomorrow, you could run your site on your own server indefinitely. You can also export all your content, members, and themes at any time.
How does pricing work? +
Plans start at $18/month (billed yearly) and scale based on member count and features. Every plan includes unlimited email sends, a custom domain, and 0% transaction fees. Upgrade, downgrade, or cancel anytime.
Do I need a developer? +
Not to get started. Ghost(Pro) is fully managed — setup, hosting, security, and updates are all handled. Pick a theme from the marketplace, customize it in the admin, and publish. If you want a custom design or integrations later, Ghost's APIs and Handlebars templates are built for developers.
Come for the simplicity.
Stay for the mission.
Ghost is a nonprofit foundation. Revenue from hosting is reinvested into the product. No investors, no board pushing growth. That's the whole business model.
